What matters more than the label

Contract names are not standardized enough to rely on by themselves. Read the trigger depth, service areas, return-pass policy, de-icing terms, snowfall caps if any, and exclusions.

A seasonal agreement that excludes walkways, major storms or post-plow windrows can be less complete than a higher-priced option that includes them.

Questions to ask before signing

Ask who decides when service starts, what happens if snow continues for many hours, whether the driveway is revisited after municipal plows, and how deficiencies are reported. For rental properties or homes with early departures, add a required completion window instead of assuming one.
