Send enough information to price the actual job

A snow-removal request is much easier to quote when the contractor can see the surfaces, access and snow-storage constraints. A street address alone does not show every operational detail.

• Property address
• Driveway width and approximate length
• Number of parking spaces
• Walkways and stairs
• Garage doors and entrance priorities
• Photos from the street and house
• Steep sections or tight turns
• Shared driveway or laneway
• Where snow may be stacked
• Whether de-icing is required
• Preferred service model
• Any time-sensitive access requirement

Clarify what ‘snow removal’ means

Some quotes cover only mechanical driveway clearing. Others include hand shovelling, steps, a front path, sidewalk sections or de-icing. Put required areas in writing so providers price the same scope.

Make the quotes comparable

When comparing providers, line up the trigger depth, service window, storm-return policy, de-icing treatment, term dates and extra-charge rules. A slightly higher quote can be the lower-risk choice if the scope is materially broader and easier to enforce.
