When should you book a winter tire change in Canada?

Transport Canada recommends winter tires on all wheels for cold, snowy or icy conditions. Appointment demand usually rises quickly when forecasts change, so households that already own their winter set can avoid the rush by booking before the first major cold-weather event.
Québec has a mandatory period
For most Québec-registered motor vehicles, winter tires are required from December 1 through March 15, subject to listed exceptions. The province recommends waiting beyond March 15 before reinstalling summer or all-season tires because spring conditions can remain variable.
Tell the installer whether the tires are on rims
A seasonal wheel swap and an off-rim tire installation are different jobs. Send vehicle year, make and model, tire size if available, whether the winter tires are mounted on a second wheel set, and the service location.
